Colour of Survival: Modern Statement Jewellery Inspired by Resilience

The vivid, gem-like colours and striking linear patterns of Australia’s salt lakes inspired this collection of contemporary jewellery. In these highly saline environments, very few organisms can survive and yet some quietly flourish.

This sense of transformation and resilience, emerging from challenging conditions, echoes the experiences we face in our own lives, often shaping us in unexpected ways. The collection serves as a gentle reminder that strength is not always visible, but is something we each carry within us.

Strength and Transformation

This collection explores strength, resilience, and transformation through colour and form. It features innovative, jewel-toned acrylic chains alongside a striking selection of silver earrings, necklaces, rings, and cuffs.

Through this project, I became fascinated by the possibilities of the ancient loop-in-loop chain-making technique — a method that has been used for over 5,000 years. I set out to bring it into the 21st century, working not only in traditional silver but also in the contemporary material of hand-worked acrylic. This innovative approach led to the vibrant, colourful chains that are at the heart of this collection.

Also in the collection are long silver and gemstone bead chains, reimagining this ancient craft with a fresh, modern sensibility. These intricate pieces celebrate the continuity of making, honouring the past while looking to the future.

Colour of Survival also marks a new chapter: the introduction of my first unisex designs, introducing a bold ring and two geometric and sculptural cuffs.
